Work

Across the seams

I tend to work where application architecture, offline-first data, APIs, web interfaces, deployment, and store release meet. I am deepest in .NET and .NET MAUI, but I move into React, Python, Linux, SQL, and Azure when the product needs it.

My work includes application architecture, native iOS and Android development, mentoring, and end-to-end mobile and web delivery.

The common thread is ownership of the full delivery path: product decisions, implementation, packaging, release metadata, support surfaces, and the operational work that keeps a product shippable after its first launch.

I build internal AI tooling and agents that other engineers use, and I work with LLM-assisted development and design tools, including Claude, alongside testing, release engineering, and direct product ownership. AI-assisted development has dramatically increased my own throughput.

One example: a plugin and skill set that turns an AI assistant into a product expert at three levels — product managers get documents, QA gets testable detail, and developers get working code — all from the same product knowledge. Read the case study.

Career path

Support to senior engineering

I've been writing software since the early 2000s, starting with plugins and scripts for online games.

I pursued undergraduate studies in Exercise Science before switching to Computer Science at Western Michigan University.

My route into engineering was not linear. I started at Real Green Systems around August 2015 as Mobile Software Technical Support, handling more than 2,000 support calls in under six months. While in Technical Support, I built an internal support-sheet generator that helped other technicians complete documentation for recurring mobile-platform support calls more quickly.

Less than six months after starting, I was promoted to Software QA and Automation Developer. Intensive self-directed study outside work supported that progression.

During the Service Assistant 5 transition, I wrote Selenium automation and helped implement automated regression and performance testing. About nine months after starting at Real Green Systems, my formal title changed from Software QA and Automation Developer to Software Engineer.

Across that continuous tenure, I moved into development on Automated Marketing Assistant (AMA), then began direct product development on the mobile platform less than two years after my approximate August 2015 start. I later worked as one of two developers on that platform.

Around 2020, my formal title became Senior Software Engineer. WorkWave acquired Real Green Systems in June 2021, and my employment continued without a break.

Today I am a Senior Software Engineer at WorkWave, and my product work has included PestPac and WorkWave Service.

Independent work

Software and physical products

I'm the Founder and Owner of Big Bwain LLC, which currently owns, operates, and produces the products and projects in its public catalog: mobile apps, live web software, open-source tools, CAD, and physical designs.

The maker-facing catalog lives at the3dcoder.com. It includes released apps, game experiments, open-source work, public digital models, and real printed products.
